Design the dream basement. I thought I would share with you one of our completed projects of how I worked with the homeowners to design their dream basement. When they found the house ready to move to Colorado they saw it as their dream home – on the first floor but the basement was unfinished and just used for storage by the previous owner. The perfect retirement home – if only it was finished!
So I worked with them to finish the sprawling unfinished basement to create their dream house. I worked with them to design two large bedrooms, a large hall bathroom, a kitchenette, with a large den and storage room. The perfect place to hang out on a snowy cold day watching movies.
At over 12,000 sf of new finished space, we carefully looked at various options to bring value into a basement. From choosing tile floors throughout the main spaces (Puppies and grandkids make tile so much easier to maintain than hardwood or carpet), a useful kitchenette ready to pop popcorn in for a movie or the hall bathroom full of affordable luxury for any out of town visitors. This was the upgrades that took the home they liked upon first seeing it, to the home they absolutely loved.
So here are the before and after images of the same spot in that basement. How could your basement be transformed into a space that you love to use rather than just gathering dust?
