Garage Conversion to Studio
In Westminster, Colorado
Dead space with potential
Tucked into the garage was a tandem parking bay that had never really earned its keep — mostly storage, and for a while a makeshift painting spot that didn't quite serve the work. The owners didn't need another car space. They needed a true studio: somewhere to paint and unwind after a long day.
The footprint was modest and largely fixed. The opportunity wasn't to move walls — it was to make a small, overlooked space work exactly for the way an artist actually paints.

A studio designed around the craft
We designed the space around the act of painting itself, thinking through how every part of the room would be used. That meant placing windows to bring in the right quality of natural light, laying out cabinetry to keep supplies organized and within reach, and planning lighting that works when the daylight fades. Each decision was small on its own; together they turn a generic garage bay into a room built specifically for creative work.

A room of one's own
The design gives the owners what the garage never could: a dedicated, light-filled studio to disappear into after work — a quiet place to paint, think, and unwind. Proof that even a small, forgotten corner of a home can become the most personal room in it, when it's designed around the person who'll use it.
